NGHTMRE Shakes Things Up with Explosive Sophomore Album, ‘MINDFULL’

in New Releases

Los Angeles-based dubstep producer NGHTMRE drops a 14-track album featuring artists like A$AP Ferg, Flowdan, Crankdat, Blanke, and Soltan.

Los Angeles-based producer NGHTMRE has long made waves in the EDM scene with his versatile production that balances intricate sound design with high-energy chaos made for festival mainstages. His output includes his 2022 album, DRMVRSE, countless singles, and even an innovative, saxophone-fueled collab with Big Gigantic. Now, NGHTMRE’s latest project is his dynamic, 14-track sophomore album titled MINDFULL which dropped on August 29 via his and SLANDER’s GUD VIBRATIONS label in partnership with BMG.

This project is my most personal yet and is inspired from my personal experiences as an artist and a human. It’s about the internal battle of finding peace in a world that’s constantly fighting to grab your attention and bombard you with content from every direction. The album concept focuses on the juxtaposition of this battle: being online vs. offline. Information overload vs mental clarity. Mind Full vs mindful. Music has always been a source of stillness and bliss amidst the chaos of life. MINDFULL is about following my creative inspiration and ignoring outside noise. I focused on listening to gut instincts in the studio no matter what direction it led me.

NGHTMRE

Leading up to MINDFULL, NGHTMRE released five singles that built anticipation for the album. From his trap song “Torch” featuring A$AP Ferg and Grammy-nominated producer Bekon to a neck-breaking collab with Crankdat and rapper Duke Deuce titled “Type Sh*t” and a high-energy DnB track co-produced by Sully and with vocals from Flowdan, the singles showcase the album’s versatility.

The range in musical intensity across the album’s discography is reflective of the dichotomy between mindfulness and chaos that NGHTMRE explores in MINDFULL. Heavy-hitting dubstep songs like “Everybody Knows” with GorillaT and IRAH, and “MIND FULL” with Blanke juxtapose with the more emotive and introspective songs on the album, such as “Buried a Friend” and the final track of the album’s namesake.

With MINDFULL, NGHTMRE invites listeners to follow in his footsteps and ground themselves amid the chaos of their own lives. It is not just an outlet for escapism, but a medium to help reconnect with oneself and reality in a world oversaturated by technology. MINDFULL is a compelling second album rooted in powerful themes. It signifies NGHTMRE’s continued growth and depth as a musician.

Jaclyn Sersland

Jaclyn’s journey as a raver began in 2022, but her obsession with music dates back to her middle school days as an angsty emo kid. A firm believer in the emo to raver pipeline, she has found a strong sense of community in the rave scene united by a common ethos of PLUR and a shared love for heavy basslines. A longtime writer and now Master’s in Journalism student at Georgetown University, Jaclyn is passionate about using her voice to spotlight the EDM scene. In particular, she enjoys writing about drum and bass, the number 1 favorite genre of hers, although her music taste spans wide so you will catch her byline on many types of stories. Her favorite artists are Andromedik, Sub Focus, Dimension, GRiZ, Oliverse, Illenium, Grabbitz, Zedd, Basstripper, Subsonic, and more.
